Music by Banned from the Moor and Saff Juno entertained guests
The #Ashburton4Ukraine music event BannedAid came together very quickly to raise urgently needed support for refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine and shows what an amazing community we are a part of - one that cares for people outside its borders.
We danced to the Ukrainian National Anthem
The weather and Covid conspired against us and resulted in a last-minute change of line-up but music by Banned from the Moor and Saff Juno entertained those that braved the rain. Banned from the Moor had everyone dancing to the Ukrainian National Anthem after a set featuring lively folk music.
A coin roll for a bottle of gin gave us an entertaining and very competitive interlude and an auction for a bottle of Dartmoor Whisky and a voucher for a table for four at Coljan boosted the funds raised.
A total of £5,697 has been raised
The event raised £1,937 after costs which is a fantastic result. Together with the funds from the online fundraiser which has been running for over a week, the #Ashburton4Ukraine campaign has raised £5,697 for Ukrainian refugees.
Thanks to our supporters
Events like this are only possible with the help and support from the people and businesses of our community. We'd like to thank Banned from the Moor and Saff Juno for the musical entertainment, Coljan and the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery for donating prizes and Jaded Palates for donating local ale for the bar. Finally we'd like to thank all our friends and volunteers who came along to support us by setting up, running the bar and the kitchen, helping with the entertainment, taking donations, clearing up and making it a great event.
