November 26th 2024 - Martyn Brooks is appointed 1204th Portreeve of Ashburton.
It is with much honour that I was appointed the 1204th Portreeve of Ashburton on 26th November, being born and bred in Ashburton - in fact my Great Grandfather, 9 times over, was born in Ashburton in 1630!
I also had the pleasure of appointing my Master Bailiff, Shane Fleming, and together we have already attended many events and coffee mornings, including the Pensioners Christmas Lunch which was a great success.
I would like to thank Kath Pugh the former Portreeve who appointed me Master Bailiff and for all her support and guidance during her year which has put me in good stead for 2025.
Martyn will be supporting the Ashburton Community Fridge
I will be supporting the Community Fridge as one of my charities and look forward to working with Inga Page and her committee who provide an outstanding service to our community.
Finally, I would like to thank the Courts Leet and Baron Juries for putting their faith in me and I
looking forward to supporting as many charities as possible of Ashburton in my ensuing year in
office.
